Voting continues to be suspended in the St. Thomas-St. John District until further notice. The Elections System of the Virgin Islands (ESVI) staff and officials are scheduled to be tested on Monday, July 13. The St. Thomas Elections Office and Early Voting Center (EVC) located at Charlotte Amalie High School temporary cafeteria (Spring Unit) was sanitized. The St. John Elections Office is scheduled to be sanitized on Tuesday, July 14. Additional sanitization is scheduled for the St. Croix office as a precautionary measure.
The Department of Health is providing guidance on the reopening of facilities in the St. Thomas-St. John District.
Act 8294 provides that any qualified elector can vote by absentee ballot in the 2020 primary and general elections to ensure that electors are not disenfranchised by COVID-19. Absentee ballot applications can be found on the ESVI website: www.vivote.gov. Voters are encouraged to use the election process that’s best for them, but participation is key, Supervisor of Elections Fawkes emphasized.
The numbers of electors who participated in Early Voting on Sunday, July 12, in the District of St. Croix was 9 for a seven-day total of 269. St. Thomas-St. John numbers were last reported on Thursday, July 9. Early voting continues in the St. Croix District on Monday, July 13 to Sunday, July 26. Voting hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The St. Croix office location is at Sunny Isle Annex, Unit 4.
