Thanks to Quick Response from CBCC Members, GBS Students Enjoy New Playground Swingset

Guy H. Benjamin Elementary School.

After Hurricane Earl threw a tree limb on their swing set, Guy Benjamin School students made due without the popular playground feature, but not for long. Coral Bay Community Council president Sharon Coldren’s call for help repairing the swing set was met with immediate response.

“I sent an email out to our members and I heard back right away with offers of money and manpower,” said Coldren.

Jay Swartley volunteered his time and David Silverman and another CBCC member, who wished to remain anonymous, pledged the roughly $350 it cost to order the new equipment. The six-by-six beam was donated by Iva Moses.

Repairs were completed last week and GBS students were excited to be able to soar into the sky again on their newly renovated swing set.
