The committee will meet to take testimony on the following:
The creation of a Virgin Islands Public Arts Program, which requires one percent of total capital improvement projects costs to be expended for works of art placed in buildings.
Department of Planning and Natural Resources: Overview of the department, particularly the Marine Environment, Historic Preservation, The Town’s Blueprint, libraries, archives and museums, permits, long range planning and water use plans.
Board of Land Use Appeals – Overview of the Board of Land Use Appeals
Coastal Zone Management Commission: overview of the commission with specificity on permits, long range planning, and land and water use plans.

Agenda:
The committee will conduct a hearing to receive updates from the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) and the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA).

The VIWMA will provide the committee with an update to include, but not be limited to, their cash shortfalls, management deficiencies, sewage deficiencies, inconsistent trash collections, landfill shortcomings and the consent decree status. They will also provide a brief outline of any applied corrective measures that the agency will use to resolve the identified problems.

Similarly, WAPA will provide the committee with an update to include, but not be limited to, the status of restoration, outstanding government receivables, Wartsila project, Aggreko project, fuel tax, standby rates, billing and the AMI system. They will also apprise the committee of any initiatives or projects pending that would help to bring about a reprieve to WAPA customers.
