The committee will receive testimony concerning:
Bill No. 35-0010 — An Act honoring and commending Aloy “Wenty” Nielsen for his years of service to the Virgin Islands community and naming the Christiansted Bypass in his honor, and making a $10,000 appropriation from the General Fund for signage at Aloy Nielsen Bypass and for other related purposed.
BLOCK II
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The committee will receive testimony on the operations of the Office of Virgin Islands Veterans Affairs to include, but not limited to, enabling law and jurisdiction, current agency challenges and plans of action to resolve challenges.
LUNCH 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
BLOCK III
1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The committee will receive testimony on the operations of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs to include, but not limited to, enabling law and jurisdiction, current agency challenges and plans of action to resolve challenges.
BLOCK IV
3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
The committee will receive testimony on the operations of the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission to include, but not limited to, enabling law and jurisdiction, current agency challenges and plans of action to resolve challenges.

Agenda:
The committee will receive testimony from the Department of the Education on the following:
BLOCK I
The status of the Virgin Islands State Literacy Plan, including details on schools’ literacy action plans, literacy coaches and literacy specialists (including bilingual reading specialists) development and implementation of culturally responsive curriculum and instruction, family literacy initiatives, extended-day, summer or weekend family institutes related to literacy and biliteracy, and partnership with the University of the Virgin Islands.
Also, the committee will receive testimony on the status of the safety and security of students, schoolwide prevention and intervention strategies, school-based bullying prevention programs, cyberbullying prevention and intervention programs, staff development to prevent school violence, law enforcement partnerships, school-based links with mental health and social service agencies as well as school, family and community involvement.

Bill No. 35-0039 — An Act amending Title 17, chapter 41, of the Virgin Islands Code, relating to Career Day: to expand Career Day into Career Week in Virgin Islands public high schools
Bill No. 35-0055 — An Act amending Title 17, of the Virgin Islands Code, pertaining to school curriculum in elementary and secondary schools
