The V.I. Police Department Patrol Division made three arrests on St. Thomas over a two-day period in connection with separate incidents involving driving under the influence, assault and violation of a court order, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
Driving Under the Influence Arrest
Police said officers responded Friday, May 15, to a vehicle collision in the Smith Bay area, where one of the drivers, Keezi Pinney, showed signs of intoxication.
Pinney, 41, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Bail was set at $1,000, which police said she posted before being released pending a probable cause hearing.
Assault Arrest at Havensight
Later that evening, at about 9:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to Virgin Haven in Havensight following reports of an assault.
According to police, the complainant identified William Mauk as the person who threw glass beer bottles at others and engaged in several altercations with patrons.
Mauk, 72, was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree. Police said bail was set at $25,000 by court order, and Mauk was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing.
Man Charged After Alleged Assault in St. Peter
On Saturday, May 16, at about 8:36 p.m., officers responded to a reported assault in St. Peter.
Police said the complainant identified Lawrence Edwards as the person who assaulted her and an adult male in violation of a court order.
According to the report, Edwards became uncooperative, behaved aggressively and struck a police officer on the shoulder while officers were at the scene.
Edwards, 34, was arrested and charged with simple assault-domestic violence, violation of a court order and aggravated assault. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing, police said.
