Thunderstorms and Squalls Over VI Today

 
 St. John is socked in under showers and thunderstorms today as a tropical wave in the Western Caribbean Sea is along 82/83 West to the south of 18 North moving west at 15 knots, according to the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration’s National Hurricane Center.
 
Isolated moderate showers to locally strong thunderstorms are in the northwestern corner of the area.
 
The forecast from the Web site CaribWX.com called for periods of strong squalls with winds of 30 to 40 knots through Tuesday afternoon and isolated-to-scattered squalls with winds of 30 knots into Wednesday. Only isolated mild activity with winds of 30 knots were forecast for Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19.
