The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has teamed up with two leading media outlets to educate travel enthusiasts looking for a great family getaway. In a multi-tiered partnership with luxury travel experts Indagare.com and family publication Cookie Magazine, the U.S. Virgin Islands is featured in a family-specific initiative comprised of on-line editorial, an interactive IQ Travel Quiz and a sponsored giveaway featuring The Westin St. John Resort & Villas.
As part of the partnership, a journalist from Indagare.com visited and reported about the U.S. Virgin Islands for the site’s “Destinations” report. Indagare also developed a Family Travel IQ quiz about the destination for a chance to win a trip to St. John at http://www.indagare.com/sweepstakes/family_iq.
The quiz has ten questions that play off of U.S. Virgin Islands facts and family attractions. The people with the highest score will be entered into a drawing to win an exclusive family getaway to The Westin St. John Resort & Villas, as well as a year-long membership to Indagare.com.
“This partnership really made sense to the Department from a marketing standpoint,” states Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty. “It represents a rare opportunity to align our brand with an exclusive membership of affluent travelers, while building awareness of the U.S. Virgin Islands as a family destination.”
In support of the promotion, Cookie Magazine will be touting the sweepstakes in its August issue, which hits newsstands in early July. The magazine is also promoting it on-line and in an e-mail to its subscriber base. Additionally, Indagare.com will be sending information about the sweepstakes to its e-mail database of 10,000 people, and at the end of the promotion, the U.S. Virgin Islands will receive all of the names of entrants who signed up as a vital list of prospects for future marketing opportunities.
