At least 20 gunshots shattered revelry at the DownTown ShutDown concert in Christiansted early Sunday, severely injuring two people, police said.

A man was shot in the chest and a woman in the groin sometime between 4 and 4:30 a.m. as the block party was ending. They were separately rushed to Juan F. Louis Hospital in private vehicles, where the woman was in stable condition after surgery, said Glen Dratte, a spokesperson for the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Police were investigating a potential motive and whether the victims were bystanders or targeted. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made in the shooting.

The DownTown ShutDown event closes streets around the Christian Market for DJs and other performances. The event started at 9 p.m. Saturday with 26 entertainers performing in at least four locations.
