Two Men Arrested in Georgia in Connection with Two Homicides on St. Croix

Two men wanted in connection with two homicides that occurred on St. Croix in 2022 have been arrested, the V.I. Police Department reported Friday.

Anthony Schneider and Joshawn Ayala were arrested Friday on murder charges in connection with two separate but allegedly connected homicides: 46-year-old Stacie Schjang and 52-year-old Arnold Jarvis, according to the police report.

Both Schneider and Ayala have outstanding warrants in the U.S. Virgin Islands for first-degree murder, as well as arson for Schneider. Both men are awaiting extradition, police said.

VIPD Commissioner Ray Martinez extended his gratitude to the agencies that assisted: the U.S. Marshals Service-Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF), St. Croix District, the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, V.I. Port Authority Police, Homeland Security Investigation, St. Croix District and the VIPD Criminal Investigations Bureau, St.Croix district.

“It was a collaborative effort between local and federal agencies that provided assistance that made these apprehensions possible, and the community as a whole, who continues to be a consistent partner,” Martinez said.

“I will do my very best to ensure the officers have the resources to fight crime in the territory,” he concluded.
