Two More COVID-19 Deaths Reported in the Territory

The V.I. Department of Health on Tuesday evening reported two more COVID-19 deaths in the territory, bringing the U.S. Virgin Islands’ total deaths from the disease to 14, and the total number of positive tests to more than 1,000.

According to DOH, the deceased are a 95-year-old female and a 72-year-old male, both on St. Thomas.

In other statistics updated Tuesday, the Health Department said there have now been 15,032 residents tested for the disease related to the novel coronavirus, an increase of 365 from Monday’s report.

Of those tests, Health reported:

– 1,030 positive tests, up 32 from Monday,
– 13,935 negative tests, up 322, and
– 67 tests pending, 11 more than Monday.

The risk factors for transmission of the positive results are:

– 312 by community transmission,
– 492 by close contact,
– 80 from travel, and
– 146 still under investigation.

Of the USVI’s 1,030 positive tests,
– 217 are still active, down 17 from Monday,
– 801 are now recovered, up 47 from Monday, and
– 14 are dead, up from two Monday’s report of 12.
