Two People Held at Gunpoint; Woman Assaulted, Police Say

Two people were allegedly held at gunpoint while asleep in their residence on St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

On Monday, 911 received a call about an incident in the Annas Retreat area for a suspicious male who allegedly entered a residence without permission and held his ex-girlfriend and her male friend at gunpoint, according to the police report.

The male victim stated that the suspect forced him to exit the residence, leaving the female victim alone with her ex-boyfriend, who was still armed, the police report stated.

The female victim corroborated the encounter with her ex-boyfriend and added that she was sexually assaulted, the report stated.

The suspect fled the scene leaving his vehicle behind. However at 2:30 p.m., Gerard ‘Redz’ Auguiste, 22, was arrested after he gave a recorded statement. The firearm was recovered, and Auguiste stated that he does not possess a license to carry a firearm, according to the release.

Auguiste was charged with rape in the first degree (DV), burglary in the first degree (DV), assault in the third degree (DV), simple assault (DV), disturbance of the peace (DV), unlawful possession of a firearm, obliterated serial number, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime. No bail was set as per the Domestic Violence Law, police said.
