Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament Set for Sunday at Hull Bay

The 33rd Annual Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament tournament will be hosted on Sunday, July 16 at Hideaway at Hull Bay, with the chance to catch the Largest Kingfish and pocket $2,000, according to the Northside Sportfishing Club.

Even if that ‘big one’ gets away, there are more than a dozen other categories to win: Second Largest Kingfish, Third Largest Kingfish, Fourth Largest Kingfish, Best Captain, Best Boat, Best Male Angler, Best Female Angler, Best Junior Male Angler, Best Junior Female Angler, Largest Barracuda, Largest Bonito, and Largest Mackerel. This adds up to over $10,000 up for grabs in cash and prizes, according to the press release. 

Registration will take place only at the Captain’s Meeting on Friday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hideaway at Hull Bay. Final registration will be on Saturday, July 15 at the Hideaway at Hull Bay from Noon until 4 p.m. Entry fees are $55 for adults and $45 for juniors ages 8 to 17. All registered anglers will receive an official Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament T-shirt, hat, and goodie bag. Over 200 anglers – adults and juniors of all skill levels – as well as over 60 boats, are expected to enter, the club said.

Lines in the water start at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 16. Weigh-in starts at Noon, and all boats must be back in Hull Bay by Noon, according to the press release.

There will be two free shuttles operating simultaneously shuttle from Sib’s parking lot on the Mountain Bar & Restaurant (intersection of Routes 33 and 37 in Estate Elizabeth) to Hull Bay Hideaway on July 16. Shuttle service starts at 10 a.m. and the last ride departs Hull Bay at 7 p.m., said Northside Sportfishing. 

Top Notch Band will be performing from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. During the intermission, a drawing for all registered junior anglers will take place. The first eight names drawn will receive $50 while the ninth and final draw will win $100. Junior anglers must be present at Hull Bay Hideaway to win. At 5 p.m., there will be another drawing for a 50/50 Raffle. After the raffle music will continue with Obsession Band from 5 to 9 p.m., with the Awards Ceremony at 7 p.m., according to the press release.
