Update: Kmart Robbery Suspect in Custody, Police Say

March 4, 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Leon Wilkins was arrested for the robbery at Kmart located at Lockhart Gardens that took place on Feb. 29, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Wilkins removed several items from the store that exceeded $500 and brandished what appeared to be a firearm at the security officer before leaving the establishment on foot, according to the police report.

Wilkins, age unknown, was processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections, pending his advice of rights hearing, the report stated.

Feb. 29, 9:25 p.m.

On Thursday, VIPD responded to reports of a robbery at Kmart Lockhart Mall, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At approximately 8:29 a.m., a call was made to the 911 Emergency Call Center regarding a robbery at Kmart Lockhart Mall. The 911 center stated that a Black male removed several items from the establishment, brandished what appeared to be a firearm at the security officer and fled on foot, according to the police report.
