Updated School Operational Hours and Format Announced for STX

The St. Croix School District will have updated operational hours effective Monday, Superintendent Ericilda Herman announced to students, parents, faculty and staff.

The revised schedule will be implemented for public schools in the St. Croix District to ensure that those impacted by adjusted schedules can meet the mandated minimum number of instructional hours. “Our primary goal is to provide students with in-person instruction, and the following schedule adjustments have been devised to achieve the required minimum of 5.5 instructional hours per day for each school,” said Herman.

 Effective Monday in the St. Croix District: 

  • Eulalie R. Rivera PK-8 School will extend its school day with operational hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dismissal will start at 1:45 p.m.
  • The St. Croix Central High School will implement a hybrid schedule with a virtual Flex Block daily. In-person instruction will take place from 7:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the remote Flex Block (Intervention period) will occur from 1:15 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.

Schedule:

In-Person 

  • 1st Period: 7:40 a.m. – 8:45 a.m
  • 3rd Period: 8:50 a.m.  – 9:55 a.m
  • 4th Period: 10:00 a.m. – 11:05 am
  • 5th Period: 11:10 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Lunch: 12:15 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Virtual 

  • Flex Block-Intervention: 1:15 p.m. – 2:20 p.m.

Effective Wednesday: 

  • John H. Woodson Jr. High School will implement a hybrid schedule with virtual courses from 8:00 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. and in-person sessions in the afternoon at the Central High School campus from 12:40 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided for students daily, with pickups starting at 11:30 a.m.

SCHEDULE:

Virtual 

      • 1st Period: 8: 00 a.m.  – 8:40 a.m
      • 2nd Period: 8:45 a.m. – 9:25 a.m
      • 3rd Period: 9:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m

In-Person 

  • 4th Period: 12:40 p.m. – 1:40 p.m.
  • 5th Period: 1:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
  • 6th Period: 2:50 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.
  • Grab & Go Lunch 3:50 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The St. Croix Educational Complex will implement a hybrid schedule with a virtual Flex Block daily. Students will receive in-person instruction from 7:40 a.m. to 1:05 p.m., with a hybrid Flex Block beginning at 1:45 p.m.
