USVI Soccer Male U-15 Begins Concacaf Tournament With Win

The U.S. Virgin Islands Under 15 Male National Soccer team, started the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football CONCACAF 2019 U15 Male Championship Monday, Aug. 5, with a 5-1 win against Anguilla. The next match day is Tuesday, Aug. 6, with Bonaire.

The USVI are participants in group I in the third division. This division is made up of 9 teams, split into two groups. Prior to the start of the tournament, Jamaica dropped out, which resulted in the French Guiana team being promoted to division two. Also participating in Group I is St. Maarten, who will play the USVI at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 8. The five USVI goals were scored by Amir Ottley (2), Rabi Abdallah (1), Jair Whyte (1), Wyatt Bracy (1). The other teams in Group I, St. Maarten and Bonaire, played to a 0-0 draw today.

Prior to arriving at the IMG Academy for the CONCACAF Tournament, the USVI U15 Male team participated in a Pre-Tournament camp at the Florida Elite Soccer Academy, in Jacksonville, Fla. While there, they played two friendly matches. The score of game one was 2-2 with Jair Whyte scoring both goals. The second game ended 2-1 USVI, with Rabi Abdallah and Jair Whyte as the goal scorers.

There are 42 countries from the Caribbean, South America, Central America, North America, Portugal, Israel, and Slovenia participating in one of CONCACAF’s largest youth soccer developmental tournaments. Follow the tournament on the CONCACAF.COM or CONCACAF’S Facebook page.
