
Interfaith Gathering Held in Honor of World Interfaith Harmony Week on Feb. 6 In recognition of World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Center for the Study of Spirituality and Professionalism will host an Interfaith Gathering. The gathering is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, on the Administration and Conference Center Patio (ACC patio under the mango tree), St. Thomas campus.
This month’s conversation will focus on “Interfaith Harmony: Finding Your Voice.”
A light lunch will be provided followed by the conversation at noon.
“Join us as we continue to grow in spirit and wisdom; these activities will leave you with a smile in your heart, provide new connections with professionals in the community, stimulate and provide spiritual awareness, and provide a renewed sense of passion and love for life,” said Dr. Wendy Coram Vialet.

Community Invited to the 1st Great Mangrove Cleanup Is Scheduled for Feb. 22 on St. Croix at Salt River Bay Join us for the first Great Mangrove Cleanup at 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 22, on St. Croix.
This collaborative cleanup effort will take place at Salt River Bay and will focus on removing as much debris as possible, both from the land as well as in the water.

Students are also able to receive community service hours for their time.
Light refreshments will be provided to volunteers post cleanup.

UVI to Host Two-Day Course on Conflict Management on Both Campuses in March
The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVICELL) is offering a two-day workshop on “Conflict Management – Appropriate Dispute Resolution” for residents across the territory. The two-day course is designed to provide participants with communication tools used by mediators and negotiators to guide conversations.
The course will be held as follows:
St. Thomas: March 5-6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at ACC-142 at UVI
St. Croix: March 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in NWW-103 on the Albert A. Sheen Campus
The course will use the PULSE framework (People Using Language Skills Effectively) to provide the basic foundation for good communication and appropriate dispute resolution. It is the structure for successful, effective conversations and an efficient and useful way to reach a resolution.

Cap and Gown Measurements and Orders Being Taken at the Bookstore on AAS Campus
All prospective graduates are advised that the last day to submit measurements for a cap and gown is Thursday, March 19.
Faculty and staff are also advised that the last day to submit orders and payment is Thursday, March 19.
Beginning on Monday, March 23, all graduate, faculty and staff orders will incur an additional shipping and handling fee for orders to be shipped express.
The bookstore hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

UVI Course Prepares St. Thomas Residents to Serve as Mediators on March 9 -13 The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI-CELL) is offering the 40-Hour Mediation Certification Course. The course is designed to provide participants with instruction in the process of mediation. The skills acquired in this course will prove invaluable in all areas of life. Through a combination of role plays, demonstrations, large group discussions and activities, this highly interactive training will take participants through the entire mediation process.
The course will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 9 – 13, at UVICELL on the St. Thomas Campus.
The course is ideal for persons who desire to become a mediator or professionals who wish to become more proficient and confident in facilitating conflict in the workplace, home, and community. Instruction for this course will be provided by Dr. Nancy Love, author of PULSE.

UVI’s 58th Charter Day Walk/Run to Be Held on March 20 on AAS Campus The annual One Mile Walk/Run celebrating the University’s 58th Charter Day will take place at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20.
Registration will take place at UVI’s Bookstore on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The registration fee is $10 and is open to the day of the race. The first 10 registered participants will receive a free commemorative T-shirt.

2020 Youth Ocean Explorers Summer Program Registration Now Open Registration for the 2020 Youth Ocean Explorers Summer Program is now open.
This 4-week marine-science based summer program is open to students in grades 7-12 and will take place from July 13 to Aug. 7.
