UVI to Close in Observance of Liberty Day The University will be closed on Friday, Nov. 1, in commemoration of the Virgin Islands Liberty Day holiday. Administrative Offices will re-open at its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 4.

UVI President David Hall to Host Dean’s List Receptions on Nov. 3 and 17 UVI President David Hall is hosting the annual Dean’s List Reception and Awards Ceremony. The event recognizes the university’s high achieving undergraduate (full-time) students who have earned the distinction of being named to the Dean’s List. This year students will be recognized for the fall/spring 2018 and spring 2019 semesters.
The Dean’s List Reception will take place as follows:
St. Thomas Campus – Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Sports & Fitness Center
Albert A. Sheen Campus, St. Croix – Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Great Hall
Both events will begin with a one-hour reception at 2 p.m. with music and refreshments. The awards ceremony will immediately follow at 3 p.m.
The entire University Community is invited to come out and be a part of this special occasion celebrating excellence in academics with our high achieving students.

22nd Annual Eastern Caribbean Islands In Between Conference Planned for Oct. 31 – Nov. 2 on AAS Campus The 22nd Annual Eastern Caribbean Islands In Between Conference is scheduled for Thursday, Oct.31 through Saturday, Nov. 2, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus. The conference will focus on the languages, literature and cultures of the Eastern Caribbean and the greater Caribbean.
The keynote speaker is Dr. George Franklin, who will deliver his message at 9 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, in the Great Hall. Other presentations will be held in the Evans Center (EVC) 401 and North West Wing (NWW) Rooms 102-103.
The conference is co-organized by Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) at the University of the Virgin Islands, the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, and the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.
The entire UVI community and the wider Virgin Islands community are invited to this event which will enlighten people on the richness of the Caribbean and its cultures.

VICCC to Host 22nd Annual Eastern Caribbean Island Cultures Conference The Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) invites the community to the 22nd Annual Eastern Caribbean Island Cultures Conference to be held
from Thursday, Oct. 31, to Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Great Hall, at the Albert A. Sheen Campus, on St. Croix.
On Wednesday, Oct.30, beginning at 12:30 p.m., participants will be treated to a Cultural Heritage Art Exhibition in the VICCC Suites on the Sheen Campus. The exhibition will emphasize the theme, “Beautifully Stereotyped.” This production was put together by Opi’a Taino International Inc., an organization of Taino Indians whose mission is to dismiss the myth that Amerindians of the Caribbean are extinct.
Other special highlights of the conference will include the 10th Annual Writing Project Conference at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, in the Great Hall. This segment will be hosted by Dr. Valerie Combie, director of The Writing Project/The Writing Center.
