John Harper, president and branch manager of Marshall & Sterling St. Croix; Marissa Small, loss control specialist at Theodore Tunic & Co; Lionel Downer from Baker Magras & Associates; Monica Robinson, senior client service representative; and Yamiris Martinez have presented a $10,000 donation to Lutheran Social Services of the VI as a relief to the agency during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation came from a fund out of the Marshall & Sterling Corporate Office, Theodore Tunic & Co and Baker Magras & Associates, and it will help cover some of LSSVI’s COVID-19 expenses across its 11 program sites. The donation was part of the companies’ commitment to the community, and both Marshall & Sterling and Theodore Tunic & Co have supported LSSVI programs in different ways over the years. Recently, Theodore Tunic donated $25,000 towards a new community center for low-income seniors at Ebenezer Gardens, LSSVI’s independent living complex on St. Thomas. Marshall & Sterling has been a major sponsor of the Queen Louise Home for Children Golf Tournament for over 35 years.
Speaking at the presentation, LSSVI Chief Executive Officer Junia John-Straker expressed gratitude for the donation and the outreach, especially during these tough times. “With so many of the seniors and vulnerable residents at our facilities in the high-risk category, it has been critical to ensure we have adequate staff and enough health and safety supplies to keep everyone safe.”
