The Virgin Islands Triathlon Federation will host a fun, multi-sport relay event on Sunday, March 27 at 7 a.m. on St. Croix’s South Side Road.
The VITF’s Hopping Into Spring is a two-person event where both teammates will run and bike the same course, switching off at three transition locations, according to a press release announcing the event. After the first leg, the one on the bike will drop the bike and start running while the runner picks up the bike and starts riding. It is best to ride a mountain, gravel or hybrid bike as the course is partially off-road, the release stated.
The course will start at the intersection of of Route 62 and Route 624 and will make an 8-mile loop back to the start, including Spring Gut Road and South Side Road. Each of the four legs of the race is approximately 2 miles.
This run/bike race starts and finishes at the former Cafe Kaleidoscope at 7 a.m. Onsite race-day registration begins at 6:15 a.m. and closes at 6:45 a.m.
