Verbal Altercation Leads to Six People Shot; Two Men in Critical Condition

Six people were shot on St. Croix Saturday, and two are in critical condition at Juan F. Luis Hospital, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received several Shot Spotter notifications at 3:21 a.m. of 40 shots fired in the area of some bars and restaurants at Peter’s Rest. The center also received information from the Juan F. Luis Hospital that six gunshot victims were transported to the hospital by private vehicles, according to the police report.

Officers responded to the scene and a preliminary investigation revealed two men were involved in a verbal altercation and gunshots were subsequently discharged, striking two women and four men, the police report stated.

Two of the male victims underwent surgery and remain in critical condition. The other four victims had non-life-threatening injuries, the report stated.

The shooting is currently under investigation.
