The Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs is inviting businesses across the territory to participate in its groundbreaking U.S. Virgin Islands Veterans Discount Program.

The main purpose of the program is to recognize veterans for sacrificing their time to ensure that we all can live with the freedoms we have today and for the foreseeable future. Secondly, this program will help us to get a more realistic hold on the accurate number of veterans residing in the territory.

To take advantage of the program, veterans will be required to take part in the recently formed partnership between the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs and the V.I. Bureau of Motor Vehicles. As part of the partnership, the Office of Veterans Affairs and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles are identifying eligible veterans via their V.I. Driver’s License, which now bears the word “Veteran” after the veteran has been deemed eligible through the Office of Veterans Affairs. The driver’s license will be the primary government-issued I.D. used to participate in the Veterans Discount Program.

Businesses are invited to sign up at the Veterans Discount Program Registration Drive being hosted on their island on the respective days and times:

Monday, Jan. 22 – Frank Powell Bandstand, Cruz Bay, St John, 3-6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 24 – Office of Veterans Affairs, St Croix (Watergut) 3-6 p.m.

Saturday, Jan 27 – Office of Veterans Affairs – St. Thomas 12 noon to 3 p.m.
