VI Track and Field Team Competing in Dominican Republic for NACAC U13/U15

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) sent a team of young athletes to the Dominican Republic to participate in the North American Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 13 and U15 Championships on July 15 and 16.

The U13 athletes, Charlise Morris and Faith Eatmon, will participate in the pentathlon, which consists of five events: the 60 meter, high jump, ball throw, long jump and 800m. The U15 athletes, Aminah Prasad, Safiyah Prasad, Steve N. Baptiste and Juvante Hurst, will compete in the heptathlon, which consists of seven events: the 80 meter, long jump, shot put, 60-meter hurdles (girls) / 80 meter hurdles (boys), high jump, ball throw, 1000 meter (girls) / 1200 meters (boys).

The team of young Virgin Islanders attended a two-day track and field camp in the Dominican Republic leading up to the championship.

VITFF will also be represented in the North American Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) U18/U23 Championships in Costa Rica from July 21 – 23, the Pan American (PANAM) Games U20 in Puerto Rico on Aug. 4 – 6 and the World Championships in Hungary on Aug. 19 – 27.
