Victor E. Garnette Dies at 81

Victor E. Garnette

Victor E. Garnette (TP68) died on Friday, Feb. 12, at the age of 81 at his residence on St. Thomas.

Victor was preceded in death by his father, William A. Seaton; his mother, Bartrice Garnette; sons: Author Garnette and Victor Garnette Jr. (Junie); grandson, Sherwin Cannings; daughters: Sheila Buchanan, Angella Ordian and Verna Richardson; mother-in-law, Daisy Violet Hodge- Richardson; brother-in-law, George Richardson (son); sisters-in-law: Christina Ritchie and Stella Richardson; father-in-law, Benjamin V. Richardson; and stepmother, Lorraine Seaton.

He is survived by his wife, Vida E. Garnette; sons: Wycliffe Richardson, Elson and Troy Garnette; daughters: Margaret Barnett, Malcia Garnette and Marilyn Richardson; grandchildren: Lungsford Richardson, Khaloni Richardson, Cordalia Lettsome, Jeannine Lee, Curtney Canning, Kishma Gabriel, Cordell Richardson, Shawna Buchanan, T’Shawn Buchanan, Devon Buchanan, Brandon Buchanan, Kimra Richardson, Shanice Richardson, Kimisha Richardson, Olaniyan Garnette, Omari Garnette, Isaiah Garnetter,  Akeel Clarke, Azhaea Clarke, Ameeah Cruise, Anieaus Garnette, Shatina Garnette and T’Andra Garnette; 33 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Rezeina Garnette (Titta), Yvette Simmonds, Cassandra Taylor and Roslyn Jacobs.

He is also survived by brothers: Alexander Garnette, Ervin, Roosevelt, Eslworth Taylor, Lyn Lloyd- Simmonds and Conrad Seaton; sisters-in-law: Amy Richardson, Ola Hodge and Nora Carty; sons-in-law: Austain Buchanan and Guy Barnett; daughters-in-law: Sandra Garnette and Francisca Richardson (Phono); nephews: Everand Garnette, Joseph Edwards Sr., Delson Richardson, Micah Malone, Tedvon Simmonds and Roosevelt Taylor Jr.; nieces: Juliette Lee, Jennifer Maynard, Sharon Nibbs, Dr. T Wanna Taylor, Shereen Taylor, and Shaniqua Taylor; cousins: Winston Hanley (Muscles), Pastor Oral Hazell and Gladston Hazell; and special neighbors, extended family and friends too numerous to mention.

The first viewing will be held from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, March 18, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. The second viewing will take place from 9-10 a.m., Friday, March 19, at Mount Zion Church of God with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and/or facial covering must be worn at all times, and social distancing protocols will remain in place. The family requests that festive colors be worn at the funeral service.
