Violet Harrigan Connor Dies

Violet Harrigan Connor

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Violet Harrigan Connor on Dec. 2. She was a very devoted mother, active church leader, a member of the Business and Professional Women’s organization and Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. She participated in numerous events such as the Taste of the Caribbean and was honored by the creation of a quiz bowl: “the Annual Violet Connor and Rae Armstrong V.I. Heritage Quiz Bowl.”

With over 30 years of teaching experience in the public educational system, Mrs. Connor’s passion for empowering young minds showed in the compassion and care she demonstrated for teaching her students, not only the basics of the core educational curriculum, but she taught them about their culture and the ways of generations past. She also mentored paraprofessional teachers as they pursued the completion of their degrees in education. Additionally, she received the high honor of being selected “Teacher of the Year” for two separate years.

Mrs. Connor leaves to cherish her memory her children: Joyce Doward Webster (Alphonso), Joanne Connor Moore (James) and Ashford A. Connor Jr.; grandchildren: Frank E. Javois, Desirae N. Javois, Harmoni’Joy V. Javois and Malachi F. Javois.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Leonard Bennett (Claudette), Walter Bennett, Alona Connor, Arthur (Cutie) Connor Sr. (Yvet), Bernadette Connor, Cal Connor, Cheryl Connor, Daphne Connor, Detrick Connor (Rena), Donia Connor, Kendall Connor (Laura), Kevin Connor (Etta), Len Connor (Carleen), Roderick Connor (Cynthia) Sr., Otwell Connor (Kathy), Rhon Connor, Dr. Trevor Connor (Josephine), Wendell Connor, Annette Davis and Gloria Davis.
