V.I. Police arrested a St. Croix man on Thursday in the 2018 killing of 23-year-old Emile Brin.

Ameade Williams, 27, of Two Williams was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree arson, second-degree arson, misprision of a felony, and accessory after the fact in connection with Brin’s death on July 14, 2018, according to a press release issued by the VIPD.

Emile Brin was reported missing by his mother on July 14, 2018. Later that day a body was discovered, burned beyond recognition, in a vehicle at Hams Bluff. Police allege that Brin had been killed in a home in Frederiksted by Akeem Stanley, now 28, who was arrested in September 2019 and charged with first-degree murder, and another man unknown at the time.

Police said the men were assisted by Josiah Sharplis in disposing of the body. Sharplis, now 24, also was arrested in September 2019 and charged with accessory after the fact (to murder and arson) and misprision of a felony.

Stanley pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder in December 2020 and faces up to 25 years in prison. A status conference in the Sharplis case is scheduled for Dec. 28 in Superior Court on St. Croix.

Williams – serving federal time on the mainland for weapons charges – was released on Nov. 26, taken immediately into custody and detained by West Virginia State Police pending extradition from West Virginia to St. Croix on the day of his arrest.

Bail for Williams was set at $1 million. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections, pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
