Members of the public, event promoters, and carnival vendors will not be allowed to wear ski masks or other full-face coverings during the St. Thomas Carnival season of events, specifically J’ouvert, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Individuals observed wearing a full-face covering or ski mask will be asked to remove it immediately as a security safety measure. Anyone who refuses to comply will be removed from the event, according to the press release.

With good reason, some individuals would prefer to protect themselves from contracting any ailments such as COVID-19, and as such, COVID regulated masks are allowed for personal protection as directed by Gov. Albert Bryan, Jr. and the Health Department.

The VIPD highly encourages the community’s cooperation and wishes everyone a safe and happy Carnival states the release.
