According to a press release from the Virgin Islands Police Department three arrests were made on Thursday while conducting traffic stops.
Police said the first stop occurred on Bolongo Bay Road when officers initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle due to the front windshield tint below the AS1 Line.Â
The department reported that officers approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle was conducted and two unlicensed firearms were recovered.Â
According to press release Shaheid Maynard, 26, and Michael S. Fahie, 33, were both arrested for constructive possession of unlicensed firearms, and their bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail both suspects were remanded pending their advice of rights hearing.Â
Shortly after police said they made a second traffic stop of another vehicle on Rhymer Highway. Numerous traffic violations included the front windshield tint below the AS1 Line, no bumper on the front of the vehicle, and the driver was not wearing a seat belt.Â
The department said officers approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, and immediately detected the odor of marijuana. A search was conducted of the vehicle where a large quantity of marijuana was discovered.Â
According to press release Arkim Clersaint, 24, was placed under arrest for constructive possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (marijuana) and his bail was set at $7,500. Unable to post bail he was remanded pending his advice of rights hearing.Â
