VIPD’s Undercover Cruiser Parks in Police Station’s Only Handicap Parking Space

 

This VIPD cruiser was photographed in the only handicap space at the Leander Jurgen Command on Friday, March 16.

“When parking is provided for the public, designated accessible parking spaces must be provided, if doing so is readily achievable,” according to the Americans With Disabilities Act. “A sign with the international symbol of accessibility must be located in front of the parking space and mounted high enough so it is not hidden by a vehicle parked in the space.”.

One handicap parking space is required for parking lots with one to 25 total parking spaces, and a route must be provided between the parking space and the building with no steps or steeply-sloped surfaces. The route must have a stable, slip-resistant surface.
