VITEMA Names Regina Browne as Deputy Director of Planning and Preparedness

Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency

Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency named Regina Browne as deputy director of planning and preparedness effective Oct. 13. Deputy Director Browne started at VITEMA in 2018 and has served in different roles, starting as Hazard Mitigation Planning specialist territorially and then the emergency planning coordinator on St. Croix. Brown was instrumental in the success, approval and implementation of several plans to include the Hazard Mitigation Plan, the Territorial Emergency Operations Plan and the Distribution Management Plan.

In her role as emergency planning coordinator, she has also led numerous planning and training exercises, including the first virtual tabletop exercise for the territory, and it was executed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As emergency planning coordinator, Browne was also instrumental in VITEMA attaining emergency management accreditation.

A St. Croix native, Deputy Director Regina Browne holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Kaplan University, a Master of Public Health in Management and Policy from Capella University, and she is also currently pursuing her Doctor of Management, specializing in executive leadership, from Colorado Technical University. Browne also has extensive certifications in emergency management.

“Regina is the perfect fit for this role, and we are confident that she will move the Planning and Preparedness Division of VITEMA to the next level of readiness,” said Director Daryl D. Jaschen of VITEMA.

Deputy Director Browne thanks Governor Albert Bryan Jr. and Director Jaschen for this opportunity and eagerly accepted this role to use her skills and experiences in emergency management and to ensure that the territory stands prepared in all mitigation efforts for any potential hazardous threats to the Virgin Islands.
