VITEMA Schedules Town Hall Meetings for St. Thomas, Water Island

VITEMA Director Daryl Jaschen

Director Daryl D. Jaschen of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) will continue to host earthquake preparedness town hall meetings on St. Thomas and Water Island this week. Dates, times and locations for the St. John town hall meetings will be announced at a later date once coordination has been finalized.

The town hall meetings are a VITEMA community engagement and earthquake preparedness initiative launched on St. Croix on Jan. 23. Each meeting provides opportunities for the community to engage the technical experts at VITEMA and receive first-hand disaster preparedness plans, information and tips in addition to Alert VI registration and account maintenance assistance.

VITEMA has collaborated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Disability Integration Team and Office of Equal Rights to have American Sign Language Interpreters on hand. It encourages everyone, including citizens with disabilities and those with access and functional needs, to attend the town halls.

The community is invited to come to any of the following locations:

St. Thomas, East

February 4 at 6 p.m., at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School – Mid-island

February 5 at 6 p.m., at Charlotte Amalie High School – West
