Viya Turkey Bowl to Celebrate 35th Anniversary at Nov. 21st Games

The Viya Turkey Bowl, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 21, on St. Thomas, will again serve as a venue for wholesome entertainment and provide an opportunity to showcase talented, young local athletes.

This year’s celebration will feature three big games: the Elementary All-Star Game, the Junior Varsity All-Star Game and the Varsity Football Game.

• The first of the three games will be the Elementary All-Star Game with Calvary Christian School, Ulla Muller Elementary School and All Saints School versus Antilles School and Lockhart Elementary School. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m.

• The second game in the line-up will be the Junior Varsity All-Star Game, which will begin at 6:45 p.m. All Saints School, Addelita Cancryn Junior High School and Gifft High School will compete against Antilles School and the Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy.

• The evening will conclude with the Varsity All-Star Football Game at 8 p.m., featuring students from Charlotte Amalie High School and All Saints School versus Antilles School and the Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy.

Mark Daniel, St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association president, thanked Viya for showing unwavering support for student athletes in the U.S. Virgin Islands. “The St. Thomas- St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association football season is about to come to a successful conclusion, and we are ready to end this remarkable season with the Viya Turkey Bowl.”

Jennifer Matarangas-King, vice president of public relations and governmental affairs, stated that the Viya Turkey Bowl serves as a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to gather for a family-oriented event and cheer on talented athletes in the Virgin Islands.

“Viya is once again proud to sponsor the Turkey Bowl, which gets bigger and better every year. We are very pleased that we have been able to support this activity, which has featured over 2,500 exceptional student athletes throughout the territory since its inception. We encourage the community to come out to cheer on our athletes at the Turkey Bowl.”

Daniel concluded, “On behalf of the players, I would like to thank Viya for [its] continued support of the St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Association and the students who participate in the games.”

Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Lionel Roberts Stadium on St. Thomas. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID.
