WAPA Contractor to Begin Drilling Test Pits Along Electrical Underground Route on March 1.

In preparation for work on the first phase of the St. John Underground Project, WAPA contractor, Haugland Energy VI, will begin drilling test holes along the project route from Frank’s Bay near the existing St. John electrical substation to Mongoose Junction on Monday, March 1.

The test holes are necessary to locate and determine the depth of existing underground facilities such as potable water, wastewater lines and telecommunications facilities. Test-digging is used to minimize the potential for damage to existing underground utilities.

While the non-evasive test digging work will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., actual trenching of the underground route will not commence until all permits are finalized.
