WAPA Reverses Accidental Billing Charges for 3K Customers

V.I. Water and Power Authority officials apologized Tuesday for additional charges that were added to the utility bills of about 3,000 customers and said that they are in the process of being reversed.

“The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority extends its sincere apologies to customers affected by an incident that occurred during testing in its billing test environment. Last night, an autopay file was inadvertently processed, resulting in charges being generated for a subset of customers, approximately 3,000 electric customers,” according to a news release.

“The Authority acknowledges the inconvenience and confusion this may have caused. Efforts are underway to promptly reverse these unintended charges and measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. WAPA appreciates the understanding and patience of its customers as it works diligently to resolve this matter,” the release further stated.
