The 16th Annual Water Island Art Fair is set to take place on Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Crossing on Water Island. The event will feature a variety of crafts and artworks created by local artists, all available for purchase.

Catch the ferry to Water Island from Crown Bay on St. Thomas and free hourly shuttle service to the fair will be available at the Water Island ferry dock.

Mark and Lori Sims, who will host the event at their business, The Crossing on Water Island, have lived on the island for eight years. Attendees can expect “beautiful local art by local artists made with love,” Mark said.

“We host the event at our small business on Water Island. We provide a table and chairs for the artists, which the Water Island Civic Association allows us to use. The artists keep 100 percent of their sales,” Mark added.

Mark also shared that approximately 10 people volunteered this year to be hosts, drive the shuttle and set up the event.

In addition to the artwork, attendees will have access to refreshments, including beer, soft drinks, and snow cones. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Water Island Search and Rescue.

“We hope to provide a sense of community and another opportunity for St. Thomas and St. John residents to come and experience what Water Island has to offer and to showcase the talent of the artists,” Mark said.

After exploring the art fair, guests can visit Honeymoon Beach for a swim. Free shuttles will be available from The Crossing to the beach.

“After visiting the artist at The Crossing, take a little time to go for a relaxing swim. Make it a day of fun and sun and a Happy Saturday!” Mark concluded.
