Women Striving for Success Inc. inducted nine new members at its induction ceremony on Wednesday, March 13, at the Winner’s Circle in Port of Sale Mall.

Among the new members were: Trisha Harris, Sylvie Sylvester-Warrelle, Wendy Bailey, Mary Joe Williams, Ola Lombardi, Sharon Walker, Jennifer Nugent Hill, Alvina Jean-Marie Iiarrasa, Dina Perry Malone and Andre’a Dorsey. These women come from all walks of life and are all leading members of their respective professions. WSFS are proud to welcome these community leaders to the organization.

Joining the evening’s program was Yvette T. Collazo, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands district director, for the U.S. Small Business Administration (US SBA). She encouraged business women at the event who were non-members to consider joining WSFS. “Support from organizations such as Women Striving for Success, which provides training and a forum for networking, is instrumental for women-owned small businesses to achieve success,” Collazo said.

“SBA and its resource partners (VI SBDC and SCORE) offer a variety of workshops tailored to a variety of topics such as marketing, social media and accounting, to mention a few,” said Collazo, “Starting and growing a business is hard for any entrepreneur. It is important to arm yourselves with the right tools, resources and training so as to gain a competitive edge and succeed. The SBA offers a number of training programs, and business owners are encouraged to visit www.sba.gov to learn more about the wealth of training and other services available through the Small Business Administration.”

The mission of Women Striving for Success Inc. is to encourage, to motivate and to inspire. Through its monthly meetings and annual conference, it aims to provide a forum for women in business to network to advance personally and professionally.
