The Caribbean Charter Yacht Show will kick off its four-day tour at Yacht Haven Grande on Thursday to display various cruising vessels that are available for charter brokers. The show will feature entertainment and competitions to keep guests entertained.

According to its representatives, the Caribbean Charter Yacht Show is the only super-yacht-centric show held outside of the United States mainland, and it welcomes the world’s largest yachts to be on display for brokers worldwide.

“This is the first year that we are having this show,” said Tammy Gedman, marketing coordinator for Island Global Yachting. Yacht Haven Grande is the flagship Marina for IGY. IGY purports to be the world’s only international superyacht marina network, with 20 marinas operating in 12 countries, including the United States, The Bahamas, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Turks & Caicos, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain.

The Caribbean Charter Yacht Show will begin Thursday with a broker’s breakfast and all-day registration. It will end with a reception and appearances by Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and BVI Premier Andrew Fahie.

On Friday and Saturday, there will be a Colors of the Caribbean Chef Competition where chefs from the Caribbean Charter Yacht Show will engage in a three-course menu rivalry. Each chef must incorporate a tin of caviar into their dishes and will be provided with 30 minutes to wow the celebrity panel of judges that will board their yacht and taste their delicacies.

Chefs will be judged on presentation, taste, use of the “Colors of the Caribbean” theme, wine pairings, and tablescape. The U.S. Virgin Islands’ very own Julius Jackson and Digby Stridiron will be among the judges at the event.

Finally, on Sunday, Dec. 12, after a few days of exhibits and entertainment, the Caribbean Charter Yacht Show will come to a close.

“In regards to attendance, we are hosting 70 charter brokers from around the world,” said Gedman.

Brokers will be visiting the yachts and networking to garner an idea of the possible experiences they can offer their guests.

Eighteen yachts are registered to be displayed at the Caribbean Charter Yacht Show. They vary from 63 feet to over 200 feet in length. Each yacht will come with its own amenities, ranging from air-conditioned gyms, divemaster crews, elevator access, jacuzzies, and on-deck barbeque grills.

The smallest yacht registered is Asturias, which was built in 2016 and features three cabins that can accommodate up to six guests. The biggest yacht registered is Laurel. Built in 2006, Laurel is a 240-foot-long vessel that can hold up to 12 guests. It features seven staterooms, a sundeck, gym, private balconies, a veranda with sea views and a sky lounge for dining guests.

To attend any day of the event, participants must be fully vaccinated and carry their vaccination cards. Masks must be worn at all times.
