The Office of Sen. Carla J. Joseph has announced that Miss Arielle St. Paul, a 6th-grade student at the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on St. Thomas, is the winner of the Second Annual Black History Month Art Competition. The event, which is in line with the senator’s platform to showcase the artistic talents of Virgin Islands youth, was launched on Feb. 24, 2021.

The senator had invited all middle school students in the St. Thomas-St. John District to showcase their artistic talent in portrayal and in celebration of inspirational Black Virgin Islanders in both historical and modern times.

Joseph made a formal award presentation at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at her office in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands. As the winner of the contest, Miss St. Paul received a cash prize of $200.
