Axel Cornelius Dies at 91

Axel Cornelius

Axel Cornelius was born on the Island of St. Croix on Nov. 21, 1930.

He is survived by Roma, his wife of 48 years; sisters: Carmen Drummond (N.Y.) and Bodil Pool (St. Croix); brother, Miles Cornelius (N.Y.); stepchildren: Dr. Ila Jarvis, Dr. Juliette Pennyman (Michael) and Otis G. Jarvis (Lori); and aunt, Viola Drummond (St. Croix).

He is also survived by step-grandchildren: Blake M. Pennyman, Tyler G. Jarvis, Jade M. Pennyman, Alexander G. Jarvis and Zachary G.  Jarvis; special niece and nephew: Dawn Sewer, Aubrey Drummond; other nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.

Other survivors include godson, Richard Schrader Esq.; adopted daughter, Rhenita Kinney; special friends: Dr. Richard Schrader and family, Elvin and Jean Byam, Cleone Llanos, Bob McIntosh, Gerry, Asta Evans and Glendine McNamara; and caregivers: Eleanor Saffrey, Patricia Ibar, Blanca Diaz and June Phillips.

Funeral services for Axel will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Nakia Ingraham Funeral Home, 6701 Pembroke Road, Pembroke Pines, Florida. A memorial will be held on St. Croix in late November.
