Boy Shot in Foot as Bullets Spray Estate Whim Homes

A boy was shot in the foot when an Estate Whim, St. Croix, home was sprayed with bullets early Monday morning, the V.I. Police Department reported. Just hours earlier, another home in the area was hit by gunfire, the VIPD said.

A woman reported the injury to her son in a call to 911 at 2:16 a.m. on Monday, the police reported in a press release Monday night. The responding officers discovered multiple bullet holes in the front and side of the house, blood inside the living room, and multiple broken items, the report stated.

The victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance where he was admitted and treated for a gunshot wound to the foot, according to the report. He remains in stable condition, it said.

The incident followed a separate call to 911 at 12:01 a.m. Monday, reporting a discharging of shots in Estate Whim, police said.

A homeowner and her family said that just past midnight they woke to a barrage of gunfire outside their home, the report stated.

The home was struck multiple times, and an undisclosed number of .233 spent casings were recovered at the scene, police said. No one was struck by the bullets in this case, but the victims were emotionally traumatized by the event, according to the report.
