Ferries Between BVI and USVI Resume Operation April 15

International ferry service between the British Virgin Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands will resume on April 15, the V.I. Port Authority and BVI Ports Authority confirmed. Service stopped in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

International ferry passenger service at Road Town Jetty resumes April 15. BVI’s online gateway to apply for travel authorization to enter the British Virgin Islands will go live with the option to enter via seaport on April 8, BVI spokesman Akua Akindele said in an email clarifying the BVI’s recent announcement.

There will be only one daily round-trip ferry for the initial period, according to BVI Ports Authority. Ferry passengers arriving and departing the British Virgin Islands must reserve a ticket with the scheduled ferry operator through their booking portal. The new international ferry passenger schedule is as follows:

– All ferries will depart Road Town, Tortola for Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas at 10:00 a.m.

– All ferries will depart Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas for Road Town, Tortola at 4:00 p.m.

– Monday: Smith’s Ferry

– Tuesday: Road Town Fast Ferry

– Wednesday: Native Son Ferry

– Thursday: Smith’s Ferry

– Friday: Native Son Ferry

– Saturday: Road Town Fast Ferry

– Sunday: Ferry operator will alternate.
