The Coral Bay Community Council has several upcoming events, including a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Oct. 27 to discuss area roads that are slated to receive official street names.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Oasis. Residents will have an opportunity to help choose the names, the council announced in a press release.
The purpose of the addressing initiative is to have a recognized property address system for emergency access that conforms to U.S. standards, the council said. To prepare in advance, visit the USVI MapGeo site to see your street name, if the government has a name in its records. Some of the names are “placeholders” right now.
Residents can offer suggestions for adding, updating and changing the street names as appropriate by filling out a form, working with the GIS office and getting their neighbors to sign on and agree to the name, the council said in its press release. The CBCC will hold its annual meeting on Nov. 7 with a potluck at Miss Lucy’s. Voting proxies and the membership renewal notice is in the mail to current members. Those who would like to join should visit the council website.
