On May 16, 2022, at 8:48 p.m., an off-duty Officer reported hearing shots fired in the Profit Hills Housing Community (Harvey Project) area. Upon making a check, officers discovered shell casings and blood.
At 9:00 p.m., Hospital Security officers at Juan F. Luis Hospital reported a gunshot victim arrived at JFL via private vehicle. At 9:07 p.m., detectives at the JFL reported another gunshot victim with gunshot injuries arriving in a private vehicle.
Andres Ponce Jr, 23, was pronounced dead by a JFL emergency room medical attendant as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Parents of the deceased were notified as next of kin. The other male victim was treated for his injuries sustained from the shooting. Preliminary investigation revealed the shootings took place in 2 separate locations in the Harvey Project.
