Police discovered the body of 67-year-old Joseph Mark Graffis in the Little La Grange area of Frederiksted after a welfare check was conducted as requested by a concerned citizen. Neighbors became concerned after hearing several shots fired two days earlier. Graffis was discovered near his home with what appeared to be bullet wounds to his body, according to police.

 

Feb. 4, 2020

At approximately 9:15 pm., the Major Crime Unit was dispatched to the area of Pine Peace, St. John, about a homicide. Upon arrival, units observed an unresponsive Black male slouched over in the driver’s seat of a dark-colored vehicle. The man appeared to have sustained gunshots about his body. Emergency Medical Technicians, who were on scene, concluded that the man did not have any vital signs. The man was identified by the next of kin as 32-year-old Jahul Ward, according to police.
