St. Croix Man Found Shot to Death Sunday, VIPD Reports

Police officers found a man shot to death in Frederiksted Sunday after shots had been reported fired in the area of Rosies Bar, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Around 11:06 p.m., 911 dispatch received a report of shots being fired in Frederiksted Town in the vicinity of Rosies Bar, according to the police report.

Officers were notified of a gunshot victim in the area and upon the officers’ arrival, they observed a Black male on the ground south of the Credit Union building. The man appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency Medical Service personnel were on scene and found no signs of life, the police report stated.

The deceased was identified by his next of kin as 49-year-old Jemmason Charles, the report stated.

Charles’ death marks the 16th homicide on St. Croix this year and the 35th for the territory, according to the Source Homicide List.* 19 people have been killed on St. Thomas.
