CZM to Hold Public Hearing and Decision Meeting on June 22

Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Thomas Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, June 22. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom.

The agenda is as follows:

Decision Meeting (public testimony will not be heard)

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0007-23 — Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) requests permission to use FEMA Funds to stabilize the Charlotte Kimmelman Cancer Institute (CKCI). The project scope includes the renovation of an existing 25,500 sq. ft. facility. As part of the project, a 600 sq. ft. expansion is proposed on the first floor and 3,000 sq. ft. of the existing second floor open roof terrace is being infilled to create more conditioned space. A new utility yard with two 100,000-gallon cisterns will also be installed as temporary support for the CKCI facility. The project site is located on the SRMC Campus at 9048 Alton Adams Sr. Drive, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Public Hearing (public testimony will be heard)

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZT-01-23(FC) VI Department of Education (VIDE) requests permission to use FEMA Funds to renovate and modernize the Bertha C. Boschulte School (BCB). The project scope includes items necessary to transition BCB into a PreK-8th grade campus. These items include the renovation/modernization of existing classrooms, new PreK-5th classrooms, administrative offices, library, cafeteria, kitchen, bathrooms, stairways, balconies, theater, hallways and all fixtures, equipment and contents. The project site is located at 9-1 and 12A Bovoni Road, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZT-12-22(FC) V.I. Department of Education (VIDE) requests permission to use FEMA Funds to redesign and construct the Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS). This project calls for the complete construction of a new school campus, including classrooms, administrative offices, library, cafeteria, kitchen, bathrooms, stairways, balconies, hallways and all fixtures, equipment and contents. The project site is located at 8 and 9 Alton Adams Sr. Drive, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Further, plans for the proposed project are on file for review by appointment only at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management, located at 4611 Tutu Park Mall, Suite 300, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands (774-3320, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., except holidays. Properly signed statements concerning the proposed project addressed to the undersigned will become part of the hearing record.
