DHS Opens Application Period for Child Care Stabilization Grants

The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services Office (DHS) of Child Care and Regulatory Services the final American Rescue Plan Act Child Care has begun the Stabilization Grant application period. The grants are available to licensed, regulated or registered childcare providers in the territory that obtained their certification no later than March 11, 2021. Grant award amounts are determined by the childcare provider’s presented and verified need.

These grants are made available to assist with wages and benefits, insurance, rent, mortgage, utilities, cleaning and sanitizing, professional development related to health and safety, mental health services and other operational expenses necessary to remain open and operating. At the time of application, providers must have met the Child Care and Regulatory Services (CCRS) health and safety requirements, including trainings and comprehensive criminal background checks.

To obtain an application, visit the Child Care and Regulatory Services page on the DHS website at www.dhs.gov.vi/occcrs/index.html where it is available for download or visit the office of Child Care and Regulatory Services on St. Thomas at the Knud Hansen Complex, Hospital Ground or 129 Golden Rock on St. Croix.
