Dorothy Mae Horsford Dies at 80

She was preceded to Heaven by children: Diane Horsford, Keith Horsford and Richard Horsford; mother, Emma Hansen; father, Alfred Moorehead Sr.; brothers: Glenn Moorehead Sr., Lloyd Moorehead, Norman Moorehead, Claude Moorehead and Morris D. Moorehead; and sisters: Eleanor Telfor and Eileen Crudup.

She is survived by her husband, Wilmot Horsford; daughters: Sandra Horsford and Nicole Horsford; adopted son, Leander Horsford; sisters: Shirley O’Reilly, Delita Civil, Iris Sarauw, Reha Hodge and Bernice Richards; brothers: Warren Briscoe, Elroy Moorehead, Norris Moorehead, Winston Moorehead, Mario Moorehead, Austin Moorehead and Daryl Moorehead; and grandchildren: Sherisma, Kenisha, Ray Jr., and Raheem Thomas, David Morton, Keisha and Keith Horsford Jr., Shanika Farrell, Malik and Shakeel Iles, Elijah, Emmanuel, K’Mani and Ny’Kayla George.

She is also survived by adopted grandchildren: Akishma, Jayden, Peyton, Gavin, Brady and Mason Horsford; great-grandchildren: Shakia, Shawn Jr., Shakori and Shakoya Canton, Tahjari, Kristaszia and K’Ziyah Lynch, Ronaisha Thomas, Karmal Michael Jr., Jasai, Kayden and Marquise Miller, Xhien Horsford, Ishmael Morton, David Morton Jr. and Yamarie Gonzalez; godchildren: Patrice Canton, Michelle Branch and Ronique Burke; and sisters-in-law: Trevena Briscoe, Zuobida Moorehead, Lorraine Moorehead, Deanna Moorehead, Paulina Horsford, Virginia H. Hennemann, Zelma Horsford, Loma Horsford, Rosetta Stevens, Azzulla Forde and Corrine M. Horsford.

Other survivors include brothers-in-law: Melwood Civil, Paul Horsford, Rosaldo Horsford, Dean Hodge and Donald Richards; special nieces and nephews: Michelle and Cheryl O’Reilly, Tresa Civil, Emma-Lisa, Kalila, Monique, Shomari, Tyrone, Jarel, Aileen, Glenn, Durema and Natalie Moorehead, Kalik, Karim, Cehara and Ahji Briscoe and many other family too numerous to mention; special friends: Roselyn Galloway, Winnifred Canton, Yvonne George, Alvilda Branch and Patricia Dublin; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The family requests that those in attendance wear festive colors.

A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and the funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
