James Chapman

James Chapman, also known as “Mr. James,” a resident of St. Croix, Virgin Islands and a native of Nevis, West Indies, has died.

He is survived by his wife, Claristine Chapman; daughters: Naomi Chapman, Verna Bannis, Veronica Chapman and Clarissa Chapman; grandchildren: Ajone’ Mia Bannis, David James Bannis and Ryon James Espinal: sisters: Helen Liburd, Ilena Walters and Ophelia Smith; and brothers: Wendell, Martin, Edward, Wilfred, Cecil and Julian Chapman.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Edmond Chapman, Linda Chapman Strikland, Edward Jr., Inga Chapman, Akeeta Brazier-Ross, Jemma Chapman, Tanya Chapman-Mattis, Tabitha Chapman, Julene Dorsett, Stephen Chapman, George, David, Timothy, Ruth Liburd, Eunice Jefferson, Merville, Vera and Dave Walters, Jennifer Miller, Matthew, Luke, Rebekah, Annette and Sophie Smith and Patricia Ramarozafy.

Other survivors include son-in-law, Andre’ Bannis; extended family: Bolan family, Nisbett family, Ward family, Phillip family, Gloria Freeman and family, Sharon George and family, and Maud Hazel; special friends: Frederiksted Wesleyan Holiness Church family, Pastor Bernard and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Ryan, Alex Brown and family, Alan Ferdinand and family, Mr. Daniel, Virginia Durand, Violet Williams, Carlos Sterling, Margret Taylor, Grace Hypolite, Agnes Walters, Janet Figaro, Universal Services and the Hovensa family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at Beeston Hill Wesleyan Holiness Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
