Egene Leroy Peters Sr. (81), born in Swetes, Antigua, lived out his life on both St. Thomas, USVI, and in Harbor Springs, Mich. until his death on Saturday, March 30.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Anne Peters; brothers: Cleavian and Felix Peters; sister, Mavis Samuel; sisters-in-law: Glendora, Keturah and Irene Peters; brother-in-law, Rupert Kirby; and son, Myron Peters.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Peters; children: Egene “Leroy” Peters Jr. (Mildred), Etza Smith (Dana), Jennifer Rivera (Raphael), Heidi Kwiat (Timothy), Matthew Peters, Christopher Peters, Christine McNair (Charlie) and honorary daughter, Cynthia Dixon (Butch); and brothers: Newton and Erwin Peters.
He is also survived by his sister, Iris Kirby; sisters-in-law: Gertrude and Araminta Peters; and brother-in-law, Austin Samuel. He also left behind 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13, at Calvary Baptist Church, 200 Altona, St. Thomas. The viewing will be at 10 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. The burial will be held in Harbor Springs, Mich.
