Energy Office Starts Real-Time Energy Monitoring Program

Virgin Islands Energy Office

The Virgin Islands Energy Office informs all U.S. Virgin Islands residents of the start of the Real-Time Energy Monitoring Program for the 2021 fiscal year on Monday, April 12. This energy monitoring pilot program will give residents and small business owners an opportunity to evaluate their energy usage as well as evaluate their ENERGY STAR® product savings in real-time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

By offering this pilot program, the V.I. Energy Office is providing a simple method for individuals to:

  • Visualize onsite energy usage data
  • Enable transparency into a home or business energy profile
  • Offer residents the opportunity to validate conservative energy-efficient behaviors and investments

Each household or small business has the opportunity to implement energy demand reduction initiatives and realize energy savings for their effort. A minimum of 250 applicants will receive monitors that utilize Wi-Fi, which allows for data access via a smartphone and website portal.

Persons interested in applying can do so online through a web form, which is available on the Energy website or Facebook page. Paper applications will also be accepted in the office or via email to the addresses below. Energy offices are located at 4101 Mars Hill in Frederiksted or 4605 Tutu Park Mall, Suite 231 on St. Thomas.
